Moss Buildup on Surfaces

Problem

Moss thrives in Western Canada's damp climate and grows on horizontal surfaces like decks, patios, walkways, and roofs, as well as vertical surfaces like siding and fences. While moss doesn't directly eat wood, it traps moisture against the surface, creating the perfect conditions for rot and mold to develop. On horizontal surfaces, moss creates dangerously slippery conditions. On siding and fences, it's not just aesthetically unappealing—it can cause long-term structural damage by keeping surfaces perpetually damp.

Solution

For horizontal surfaces, we use a combination of pressure washer wand and surface cleaner attachments, working methodically to remove moss and built-up dirt. We start with edges and work back and forth across the surface, then rinse all loose debris away. For vertical surfaces like siding, we primarily use power washing, but when necessary—especially on vinyl siding—we use our water fed pole to gently scrub the surface without causing damage. When moss or mildew is present, we can apply eco-friendly cleaning solutions like bleach mixtures, TSP, or specialty cleaners such as 30-Seconds cleaner. We always pre-soak surrounding vegetation to protect your landscaping while treating the affected areas.
